Just got the cover art for Jake and the Dynamo. I’m pretty excited. I think I have to wait to show it to you, but stay tuned.
Tesla’s New Look
I just got another update on the cover art for Jake and the Dynamo, which included this steampunkish image of Pretty Dynamo’s familiar, Tesla the lightning bug.
Progress!
Dead to Rites, the second volume of the Jake and the Dynamo saga, currently stands at a little over 65,000 words. I had kind of a longstanding block on this book for a while, as I am not, alas, as prolific as some of those Pulp Rev writers like Kai Wai Cheah, who produces a novel every time he sneezes.
But it’s coming together, and I think it’s going to be a really fun story. The part I’m writing now involves the reappearances of Rifle Maiden and Voodoo Queen Natasha. We get some of Rifle Maiden’s backstory, and possibly … just possibly … her secret identity?!?
Hmm …
I believe this is the final version of Pretty Dynamo for the cover of my soon-to-be-released novel, Jake and the Dynamo: The Wattage of Justice.

Jake Blatowski’s New Look
Oh man, what a hunk. No wonder Dana wouldn’t stop pestering him after he sat next to her in class.
He looks like he’s about to go on a crazy adventure after getting sucked into a Nintendo …
And I like the Velcro sneakers. Not only can Jake not graduate to high school like a normal kid, he can’t tie his own shoes. This works for me.
Although this isn’t something I would make a big issue of, I did ask the artist if he could consider darkening Jake up a bit. He’s supposed to be rather tawny; although, if asked, he’ll say he’s Polish, he doesn’t look Polish.
Pretty Dynamo’s New Look
Still waiting for the final cover art for Jake and the Dynamo. However, I did just get this partial, showing the design for Magical Girl Pretty Dynamo as she’ll appear on the cover.
I don’t know about you, but I’m blown away. Yes … this is exactly what I pictured in my head … cough
Actually, that’s a lot cooler than what I pictured in my head.
JAKE AND THE DYNAMO Releases in June!
The universe is out to get him. But the universe didn’t count on her.
Current planned release date for JAKE AND THE DYNAMO Volume 1: The Wattage of Justice is June 15th! I’m still waiting for the cover art, and you will be the first to know as soon as I’ve seen it.
Meanwhile, Roffles Lowell, the creator of the interior art, has given us this spectacular picture of Pretty Dynamo carrying Jake through her battle with the kaiju Bigassica.
JAKE AND THE DYNAMO Update
I got word that the release date has been pushed back to June 15th. The cover artist was swamped with work and wasn’t able to produce the cover in time.
This isn’t really a bad thing as it gives us time to make sure the book is in good shape before it goes out. We were earlier making sure the illustrations would display in the best possible way in the ebook, and I yet again added some last-minute edits to correct a few lingering typos (there are always typos).
Pushing the date back should also give us time to have it on pre-order.
I may have some sneak peak preview art in the near future.
